Scunthorpe United missed the chance to pick up their first win of the season as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sutton United.
Jake Scrimshaw’s debut goal looked to be leading the Iron to victory, but Donovan Wilson struck six minutes from time earned the EFL new boys a deserved point.
Despite looking brighter early on, Scunthorpe had Rory Watson to thank for keeping the game at deadlock as he first denied Omar Bugiel with his legs, before saving low to his right to keep Wilson’s effort out.

Lewis Thompson saw his powerful effort blocked by the Sutton defence in the hosts’ best chance of the first half, before they took the lead six minutes after the break.

Having been announced as the Iron’s latest signing just 24 hours before, Scrimshaw marked his debut in style as he put his new side ahead with an overhead kick inside the six-yard box, having seen Thompson’s header tipper over moments earlier.
After surviving a nervy few minutes to keep themselves in the game, Sutton went on to grab their equaliser …….
